The decision to appoint the Alzheimer’s Society as our Charity of the year was announced in August but we confess that we have been much slower out of the blocks than we hoped due to summer holidays. However, we have addressed this by appointing them as our charity of the year for all of 2018.
On Thursday 14th September the staff was addressed by Richard Gilliland from the Society who will be our liaison throughout the fifteen months ahead. This was a perfect opportunity for us to understand a little more about the Society and Dementia.
In the UK almost one million people suffer from Dementia and nearly six hundred thousand are suffering Whilst we were aware that over 20,000 people are living with Dementia in NI we did not realise that it is the leading cause of death both here and in the UK as a whole. Richard provided us with our welcome pack and various leaflets that will be available in our reception.
Our Give as you earn has already been switched to the Society and with over 90% of our staff giving by this means and matched funding by the Company we are already raising much needed funds.
Our official launch, where we invite clients, friends, colleagues and basically all who we hope will give is, provisionally set for the 26th October and details will follow.
