How long have you worked in Edwards & Co?
I graduated from Ulster University in Law with Criminology in 2018 before going on to train as Solicitor in a regional law firm based in their Belfast office, qualifying in 2020. I joined Edwards & Co in May 2022. Before joining Edwards & Co, I worked in a firm specialising in personal injury claims in Belfast.
Do you specialise in any particular area?
Since I qualified as a Solicitor, I have mainly worked in litigation dealing with a variety of areas on behalf of private client’s including road traffic accidents, cycling accidents, holiday accident claims, industrial illness and disease claims, noise induced hearing loss, accidents at work, tripping/slipping claims and uninsured/untraced driver claims.
I would consider myself to specialise in clinical negligence matters taking a variety of claims against public and private healthcare providers including claims in relation gynaecological matters, birthing trauma, prescription errors, misdiagnosis, ophthalmology, and dental negligence. Additionally, I have a large civil legal aid practice and work regularly with clients to obtain legal aid funding in order to pursue their claims to Court.
I have always aimed to meet the needs of my clients and to ensure that they receive the best result as quickly as possible.
What do you like about what you do?
My favourite part of the job is helping people. If a client comes to me because they have sustained an injury that was not their fault, I find it very rewarding to help them receive compensation for their injuries and other losses which will help them on their road to recovery. It is very satisfying to bring a case from initial instructions to a hearing or resolution out of Court.
What’s the best case you’ve ever worked on?
I find it very difficult to identify one case in particular as I have been very lucky to have worked within a wide variety of areas in litigation. I believe that helping clients who have sustained very serious injuries receive life changing compensation is probably the most rewarding type of case to work on. However, regardless of the circumstances or the extent of injuries sustained, it is very pleasing to see you have help someone get the result they wanted and make a positive impact of their life.
