How long have you worked in Edwards & Co?

I joined Edwards & Co in April 2019 as a legal assistant and commenced my training contract with the Firm in October 2021. I obtained a Distinction in the Postgraduate Diploma at the Institute of Professional Legal Studies and I qualified as a solicitor in October 2023.

Prior to joining the Firm, I graduated from Queen’s University Belfast in 2016 and worked as a contract analyst with a legal services centre in Belfast. I then moved to Boston and participated in the J1 Graduate Program from 2017-2018. During this time, I interned at a law firm with a focus on family law and personal injury cases.

Do you specialise in any particular area?

I assist primarily in the areas of company, commercial, corporate and charity law including mergers and acquisitions, reviewing and drafting commercial contracts, corporate governance, charity incorporation, registration and charity mergers.

What do you like about what you do?

I mostly enjoy the varied nature of the work from the fast-paced environment of corporate transactions to the complexities of charity law. The added reward of working in the charity sector is developing relationships with the clients to ensure that the charity can successfully carry out its charitable objectives for the benefit of its users.

What’s the best case you’ve worked on?

It’s hard to identify one case above others however, I recently assisted on a corporate transaction which involved advising the sellers on the sale of shares in their company. It was challenging (with some very late nights at the office!) but it was rewarding to see the process develop and to work together with other professional advisors to ensure a successful completion and outcome for the client. I am keen to develop my experience in this area throughout my training contract.
