The Court of Appeal has upheld the finding of the High Court that the Charities Act (Northern Ireland) 2008 does not allow staff of the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland to carry out its statutory powers.

The Charity Commission is considering the ruling in full but has updated its website with a legal update to provide information which may be of assistance to charities. You can find the legal update here.

We await sight of the full judgment which we will read with interest and in the meantime if you require any advice in relation to your charity please contact Jenny Ebbage or Sarah Burrows who shall be glad to help.
