The Charity Tax Group has prepared guidance in the event of a no deal Brexit at the end of August. This followed on from the Government’s published summary document explaining the approach to preparing the UK for a no deal Brexit. This includes comments on the UK Government’s guarantee for EU funded programmes, such as the European Regional Development Fund and Horizon 2020. According to CTG if there is no deal by 29 March 2019, the UK will leave the EU budget and funding from such programmes will stop. However, the UK Chancellor announced that the Government will guarantee EU projects agreed before leaving the EU. There are also commentaries on VAT, delivering humanitarian aid programmes, trading with the EU including Customs and Excise procedures and stay dates. There are also concerns that Brexit will affect the number of volunteers and staff available for the third sector.
